Raspberry Pi Foundation makes it easy for hardware lovers to afford simple computers that can be used for all fantastical projects. The latest offering is the Raspberry Pi Zero W which is a tiny $10 board that adds Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Though Raspberry Pi 3 is already affordable at $35; but this new offering further cuts the price by two third. It is a small device and is versatile. It can be used as a media center, retro-games console, general-purpose desktop computer and more.

Internet Connectivity

The latest version makes the board far more useful with addition of internet connectivity. Thanks to its support for 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. The Wi-Fi support makes it far easier to remotely connect to the command line from another computer on the local network.

Smallest and Cheapest

Raspberry Pi Zero W is one of the smallest as well as the cheapest machines available, packing Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. The look and feel of Raspbian is familiar to any desktop computer user. This tiny board measures just 65mm x 30mm x 5mm and weighs only 9 grams.

The new model includes a 1GHz single-core CPU, 512MB RAM, mini-HDMI, a micro-USB OTG port, 40-pin header and micro-USB for power. It also includes composite video and reset headers, a camera connector and new wireless features as well. It is capable of controlling and communicating with a range of hardware via its electronic pins.

The board is available for purchase now and coincides with the 5th anniversary of the original Raspberry Pi board launch. Initially, sales will be restricted to one per customer. It is available for purchase from CanaKit in US.
