Rumors and Leaks: Microsoft Surface Phone
In the mobile sector, Microsoft has had very limited success and still struggles to get a significant market share. With tech giants like Apple and Google dominating the smartphone market, Microsoft is now making efforts. Though Microsoft Windows 10 Mobile and the Lumia 950 and 950 XL were not able to get Microsoft that recognition, but now the company is coming up with a perfect phone. Microsoft Surface Phone is expected to entice users to shift towards Windows from iOS and Android.
Popularly known as the Surface Phone, it is tipped to provide strong competition to the rival devices. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has confirmed on several occasions that Microsoft is aiming to make a serious statement of intent with its next flagship smartphone device. This could also potentially be a big trouble for upcoming smartphone like iPhone 8, Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
Lumia 950 and 950XL
Processor
Microsoft Surface Phone is tipped to incorporate the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processing Chipset. This implies a faster processing and more efficient consumption of power. It will also prolong the battery life of the smartphone. The smartphone may have a 4 GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage option and the other variant with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. Also, the third variant may have a whopping 8 GB RAM and 512 MB internal storage. It is expected to feature a stylus and keyboard cover as well like the Surface Pro.
Display
If the ongoing rumors and leaks are to be believed, Microsoft Surface Phone will likely be a phablet, with same screen size as Nokia Lumia XL. It is rumored to be coming in three variants. One will be targeted towards the consumers while other two focusing on business professionals. It could sport a 5.5-inch HD display with resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. The business variant may have a 6-inch screen. It may also use a liquid cooling technology.

In terms of optics, a 21MP primary and an 8MP secondary camera is expected to come with the basic variant. A fingerprint scanner will also be incorporated.
Battery
It may be backed by a 3,000mAh battery but it is not yet clear whether the battery capacity will vary with the models or not. Also, it will not be surprising that the Surface Phone features Continuum support for quicker and efficient connectivity with other Surface devices.
Price and Release Date
The price of the Microsoft Surface Phone is rumored to be around $750 mark for consumer variant and around $1200 for the business variant. Microsoft has not revealed the date of Surface Phone release. It is expected to be launched some time in 2017. There’s no official announcement from Microsoft as of now.
