At Computex 2016, Asus has announced a number of new products including series 3 smartphones and notebooks. Asus ZenBook 3 is a new rival to the Macbook and is lighter and thinner than it. ZenBook 3 features an innovative cooling system to offer incredible performance in an ultra-thin form factor. Let’s have a close look at it.

Design and Processor

At first glance, the ZenBook 3 looks similar to Apple MacBook. It makes use of an all-metal design with a broad, single display hinge and features speakers above the keyboard. The aluminum bodied laptop features a 12.5-inch screen and the pricing starts at $999 with base model including 4GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. According to the company, it is thinner than MacBook Air and faster than the MacBook. It includes the world’s thinnest fan at 3mm and the screen to body ratio is 82 percent. The display features Corning Gorilla Glass 4 panel.

Processor

The base model comes with Intel Core i5 processor. The display packs 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution covered with Gorilla Glass 4. The screen boasts 1 178-degree viewing angle, a 1000:1 contrast ratio and Asus Tru2Life video enhancement. The top of the line model retails for $1,999 and comes with Intel Core i7 processor along with 1TB SSD and 16GB of RAM.

Battery and Ports

Asus claims that the battery comes with 9-hour battery life and also includes quick charging. It can do 60 percent charge in 49 minutes, thanks to its USB-C fast charger. The USB-C port also doubles as your display connector, USB port and charge port. With the all-in-one USB-C Universal Dock, the port acts as an Ethernet port, SD card reader, LAN, HDMI as well as VGA.

Other Features

ZenBook 3 is lighter and thinner than MacBook and more powerful than MacBook Air. The body of laptop includes a full-size keyboard, a glass-covered touchpad and a fingerprint reader supporting Windows Hello. This gives users instant one-touch access for quick signing in and unlocking it without having to type password or PIN. The full-size keyboard comes with 19.8mm key pitch and 0.8mm key travel for offering a comfortable typing experience.

The notebook will be available in several color options such as royal blue, quartz grey and rose gold colors.
