The technology giant, Videocon has launched Windows 10 powered world’s first LED hybrid TV cum PC in partnership with Microsoft Corporation. This Windows 10 TV will come in 32-inch and 40-inch models. The TV, which also works as a personal computer, will be available in market from next month.
The device can be tuned into TV mode to access various television channels. Presently, when one needs to have Windows 10 on their TV screen, they need a separate Windows PC stick. But, with this device, Windows 10 gets integrated directly in to the TV. The device will come with built-in Wi-Fi feature to automatically connect with available networks.
The TV would be dubbed as One Touch TV and will come installed with Microsoft Office, Windows Store along with all other essential apps. The dual function of the Windows 10 TV makes it an interesting fit for one’s room.
The television has a 1080p full HD display and 2GB of DDR3 RAM along with 16GB of internal storage. The internal storage can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. It will include the bunch of connectivity features like 4 HDMI, 3 USB, VGA and the usual Audio input/output ports. The integrated quick swap feature will allow one to shift from usual TV to Windows 10 mode with a simple click. The 32-inch variant is priced at Rs. 39,990 and the 40-inch costs Rs. 52,990.
At the launch event, Akshay Dhoot, Videocon Head of Technology and Innovation , said, “In these changing times, we realised the needs of our consumers of having easy access to technology at their convenience and therefore designed the world’s first hybrid TV cum PC.” “Right now, we have launched only 32 and 40 inch, which are popular in the consumer segment. Depending on the feed from the market, we would launch 55, 65 and 24 inches also,” he added.
Vineet Durani, Director of Windows Business Group, Microsoft India said, “With this innovative product, we intend to extend the Windows 10 experience to more users.” He also mentioned that Windows 10 has received positive response across the globe with over 110 million download already.
