WhatsApp Desktop App Released
WhatsApp has now introduced desktop app for both Windows and Mac. It will have the same features and shortcuts as seen on WhatsApp for web. The only difference between the two is that WhatsApp desktop app does not depend on the mobile version. Here are the complete details.
WhatsApp took to their blog for making the announcement. According to the blog post, “Today we’re introducing a desktop app so you have a new way to stay in touch anytime and anywhere – whether on your phone or computer at home or work. Like WhatsApp Web, our desktop app is simply an extension of your phone: the app mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device.”
Last week, rumors have indicated about WhatsApp working on a native desktop client and now, it’s been official. Till now, WhatsApp web was the only option to access messaging service on your PC or MacBook’s internet browser. WhatsApp desktop app runs on Windows 8 and above and Mac OS 10.9 and above. To sync the app with your smartphone, simply open the app and scan the QR code with the phone.
How to use the WhatsApp desktop app?
- Go to the official WhatsApp.com website and download the app
- After successful installation, click on the icon to open it
- You will see the QR scan similar to WhatsApp Web
- Open WhatsApp web in Settings of your smartphone and scan the QR code on the desktop
- It will now automatically sync and you can start chatting there only
With release of WhatsApp Desktop app, it is catching up with its competitors like Line, Telegram etc. According to Whatsapp, the desktop app will have support for better keyboard shortcuts, native desktop notifications and more. It has its own settings for deleting, archiving chats or starting new chats. The best part of this app is that you are saved from opening a separate browser tab on PC and can use the app directly to get access to WhatsApp on PC.
