Every phone, be it a pricey smartphone or a cheap device, comes with an IMEI number. This International Mobile Equipment Number is a unique identifier for that device. It is a useful tool for tracking lost mobile phones as no two devices come with same IMEI number. You should always record your IMEI number but how to find it? Well, there are a number of ways to find IMEI number.
Here are the simple ways to find IMEI number of your Android, iPhone or any other phone:
1) Dial *#06#
One of the quickest way to find your phone’s IMEI is by typing *#06#. The number will be displayed immediately and that will be your IMEI. This method works for both iPhone and Android phones.
2) Look at the device information
The IMEI is also listed in the information screen. Go to Settings> General> Device information. This method also works for both Android and iPhone devices.
3) Using Google Dashboard
Google Dashboard can also be used to find IMEI number of your Android phone. Visit www.google.com/settings/dashboard and expand the Android section. Now, locate the phone in the list and copy the IMEI number.
4) At the back of iPhone
Original iPhone has the IMEI number engraved on the back of the phone, near the bottom. GSM networks like AT & T use IMEI numbers while CDMA networks like US Cellular and Sprint use MEID number. So, if you need MEID number, take the same number but ignore last digit.
5) Looking under the Battery
Before removing battery, power down your phone and remove the back from your phone. Please note that this method only works for phones that come with removable battery. For iPhones or other phones with affixed batteries, this method to find IMEI number does not work. Remove the battery from the phone and push it slightly towards bottom of the phone. Here, you will find the IMEI number printed on a sticker.
6) Checking the packaging
The original packaging of your mobile device also includes IMEI number. Locate the barcode label stuck to your box and the IMEI number will be clearly labeled there. It is usually listed together wth the barcode and serial number.
