Samsung has officially launched the latest version of its Gear VR headset at MWC 2017. The original product is in very much line with the rumors and leaks that have been going around for a while. This is for the first time that the South Korean company introduces a VR controller along with the headset. The new Gear VR headset with controller provides convenience to the users and helping them with user interface in VR apps and games as well.

Interact With VR Games

The new Gear VR headset makes it easy for people to interact with VR games and experiences. It is powered by Oculus and you will get all your favorite Oculus games and apps available on this headset. The latest VR headset offers a more immersive experience than before. The new headset looks like a color-swapped version of the predecessor. The new dark blue shell lets you keep images from phone’s screen from reflecting off of the headset.

Ergonomic Controller

The controller comes with an ergonomic and curved design. This allows the user to use the controller with one hand. You can easily and more comfortably play your favorite games. The curved design of the newly introduces Gear VR headset also provides better motion interaction with minimized head movement. It also features a touchpad on the motion controller to provide quick selection and interaction within VR apps. The controller features Home, Volume and Back keys to easily access everything you need.

The separate controller introduces you many ways of interacting with virtual worlds. One can use the trigger and touchpad to pick up and manipulate objects. It aims to offer a more immersive and interactive experience.

Other Features

The Gear VR now offers 42mm lenses with 101-degree field of view and also comes with advanced distortion correction technology. This helps to minimize motion sickness. Samsung has worked with Oculus to make the device. It features clickable touchpad at the top of controller and has a trigger and included wrist strap. The controller is not rechargeable and takes two AA batteries that you’ll need to replace occasionally.

Compatibility and Pricing

The new Gear VR headset supports the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S7, S7 Edge, S6 Edge+ and Note 5. Though Samsung has not officially mention Galaxy S8 but we can safely assume that it will work with the company’s newest offering. As far as the pricing and availability details are concerned of the new Gear VR headset, these are yet to be revealed.
