Software giant, Microsoft, has released the Send app for Android today. It was originally made available to iOS users only. This part messenger and part email client was released for iPhone back in July. The app still requires you to have an Office 365 subscription to use. It is now available only in USA and Canada as of now. The app will be released for the first time on Google Android and this step will allow Microsoft to expand its reach among the various other email and chat messenger services available in the market today.

According to the official blog, “Send has been welcomed by universities, organizations with office workers and organizations with a mobile workforce. We’ve heard the app is improving communication flow around offices, campuses and other workplaces, because it’s based on a universal platform that everyone has access to—email. You told us that Send is a much-needed alternative to the consumer chat applications that can find their way into an organization.”

Send is a user friendly app to communicate with each other and users can also send quick emails without need of any signature or subject line. It reduces the friction and time spent on emails that often acts as a barrier in daily communication. The messages that you send via Send will appear when you fire up webmail but you won’t see any other junk when you open Send. It shows the conversations started within the app itself. With Send, you can easily take all those long email threads to a place where they can be quickly accessed.

Though the service when announced back in July was iOS exclusive but things have changed now. The app is now available on the Google Play Store and users need to have an android handset with Android 4.2 or better. The most surprising part is that the app has not yet arrived on Windows Phone.
