Microsoft Unveils Windows 10 Editions

Microsoft has finally shared new details of its plans about Windows 10. These details are regarding Windows 10 editions and these editions are designed for all types of customers ranging from consumers to small businesses to largest enterprises.

Microsoft has long back announced that existing Windows 7 and 8 would receive a free upgrade to Windows 10. After that, there have been many discussions about Windows 10 but Microsoft had not announced anything official. But now, Microsoft has come up with details about Microsoft 10 editions.

According to Microsoft, “we are offering the full versions of Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Mobile and Windows 10 Pro as a free and easy upgrade for qualifying Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices that upgrade in the first year after launch.”

Let’s have a look at Windows 10 editions:

Windows Home:

Windows 10 Home offers a familiar experience for computers and tablets. It will be available on most of the consumer-focused devices. It includes Photos, Maps, Mail, Calendar, Music and Video “universal Windows apps.” It also includes the new Microsoft Edge browser, voice-assistant Cortana, Windows Hello face-recognition feature and more.

Windows 10 Mobile:

This version is dedicated to deliver the best user experience on smartphones and small tablets. It includes a new version of Office optimized for touch, Continuum for phones and same universal apps as Windows 10 Home.

Windows 10 Pro:

Windows 10 Pro has been designed for choose your own device programs. It has all the versions of Windows 10 Home and some extra features for small businesses as well. It includes support for Windows Update for Business that allows you to determine when and to which devices software updates are applied.

Windows Enterprise:

It is aimed at medium and large size businesses. It supports the broadest range of options for operating system deployment and comprehensive device and app management. You have the option to use Windows update for business or long term servicing branch update processes. It is build on the Pro edition.

Windows Education:

Including all functions of Enterprise, Education edition also includes features to meet the needs of schools and colleges. The edition will be available through academic Volume Licensing.

Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise:

This edition focuses on providing best customer experience to business customers on smartphones and small tablets. It will offer flexible ways to manage updates.

Windows 10 IoT Core:

There will be version for small footprint, low-cost devices like gateways and this version is Windows 10 IoT Core.
